Randy Lee

Pastor of Youth Ministry, Contemporary Worship & Outreach

Randy once had a dream of being a truck driver - crossing the country and seeing God's amazing creation from behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler. God, however had other plans to set him out on a journey before bringing him to Central. The son of local printer Olin Lee, Randy was raised in Randolph County and graduatede from Asheboro High School. After high school, he attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. One of his earliest careers found him working alongside his brother Mike at his family business: AVS Catering. He felt God calling him to the ministry and set out to serve as the Worship/Arts and Youth Pastor at Lifespring Ministries in Charlotte, NC , where he remained for 11 years. He later became Senior Pastor at The Crossing Ministries in Fort Mill, South Carolina. After 12 years in SC, Randy jumped state and headed to Atlanta, Georgia where he was Associate Pastor and Campus Chaplain at City of Refuge for 3 years. Yearning to return to North Carolina and bring his experiences and talents to his hometown, Randy found a home with Central Church in 2018.

MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

Each area of my oversight can always provide opportunities for people to minister.

  1. Contemporary Worship: band, vocalists, tech team, hospitality team
  2. Student Ministries: youth leaders, providing meals, chaperones, admin duties
  3. Outreach/Mission: involvement in community-wide and local church events

Randy Says:

I am very fortunate and blessed to have the unique opportunity to not only serve and work in ministry, but I get to do and live everyday doing what I love to do. I have never looked at what I do in ministry as work or a job. It is what I was created for. It is not just a job; it is a way of life.

I love helping people, in any way I can. I love being with young people who are making life decisions on a daily basis. I love reaching out to the marginalized and under-privileged, and helping them become self-sustaining, and fulfill the purpose God has on their lives. I love seeing people worship in freedom, and being able to lead and direct them into a place of freedom in worship that they may have never experienced before.

There is nothing else in this world that I’d rather do.

"Randy led the Sunday livestream worship ministry from the outset of the pandemic. Thanks to his talent and the countless volunteer hours of our tech and praise team, Central UMC did not miss a single week of inspiring worship services. Randy coordinated the improvements to the appearance of the worship area, upgrading of the audio and video equipment capabilities of the service, and rehearsed and led a praise team to a very high level of achievement. In addition, he has coordinated multiple food ministry outreach efforts to families in our neighborhood in need, as well as relaunched the Central Church youth ministry (after staying in touch through most of the summer via ZOOM).
