Jill Akins

Office Manager

Jill Akins grew up in the Methodist Church and was saved at the age of 12 at a Youth Retreat at Mt. Shepherd Retreat Center. She worked at Acme McCrary Corporation for 17 years and was the Executive Officer for the Board of Realtors before coming to Central. Jill has her Real Estate License, is a notary and works the polls on Election Day. She loves the outdoors; hiking, camping, and gardening and loves to read when she gets the chance. Jill enjoys being with her family, including her husband Tim, son and daughter-in-law Chris and Merrill, daughter Kelli, and her granddaughter Carson Mary. Her favorite place is her front porch.

MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

Please review our weekly newsletter I email out each week so you can take advantage of the wonderful opportunities at Central and forward and pass along to others you know.

When I am going to be out of the office, I need volunteers to cover for me. If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected]  or 336-629-1425.

Jill Says:

When I was hired, one of things that I was told was “as first contact, you represent the church.” I haven’t forgotten that. I enjoy meeting people that may come into the office for many reasons even if it is just a UPS delivery person or the mail. I want to make them feel welcome. I greet them with a smile and try to make conversation. I want them to feel that we at Central really care. I also have enjoyed meeting the members here. They are like my second family. They took me in and made me one of them and I enjoy helping them in any way I can. Working at Central to me is more than a job. It is a ministry and I like that.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY:

"Jill Akins helps all of us at Central stay organized, informed and welcome with excellence! The newsletters and emails are great ways to stay connected and know about upcoming opportunities."

"In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jill Akins has mastered new tech skills in the area of Zoom and online staff meetings. Much of her job has shifted from traditional paper-based administration (bulletins, inserts, newsletters, reports, etc.) to digital-based administration. Jill has handled this significant paradigm shift with grace and competence. Jill has also taken the lead role in the office area safety protocol (temperature checks, contact tracing, office area sanitizing, etc.), to help keep the numbers of people who come through the doors of our facility each week, safe and healthy."
